About Hans-Martin

Hans-Martin has a wide-ranging client base in financial services, family-owned businesses, and consumer-facing industries (such as apparel retail, grocery retail, food services, and consumer packaged goods). He is an expert on strategy, organization, and operations.

For more than 25 years, Hans-Martin has served clients in the financial-services sector—retail and commercial banks, wealth-management providers, securities exchanges, and financial regulators—on a wide range of topics. Examples of his recent work in finance include:

  • delivering a large end-to-end digital-process-redesign transformation program for a universal bank
  • creating a digital strategy for a bank across the mass, affluent, private, and small-business customer segments
  • running end-to-end process-redesign projects covering retail credit, trade finance, and mortgage products for a universal bank
  • designing a regulatory strategy for consumer and real-estate lending for a central bank

Hans-Martin co-led the Consumer Packaged Goods Practice in the Middle East and works with clients in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and retail. Examples of his work include:

  • defining a growth strategy for a large FMCG distributor, including organizational and go-to-market models
  • developing a growth strategy for a frozen-food company in B2B and B2C markets in the Middle East
  • developing the management structure for the regional business of a multicountry apparel retailer
  • designing a growth strategy and operational-improvement program for a casual-dining food-services company

Hans-Martin established and leads the Family-Owned Business Practice in the Middle East. He serves clients on governance-, strategy-, and organization-related issues specific to family-owned businesses. Examples of his work include:

  • delivering a growth strategy for a family-owned business group and defining the role and operating model of the group’s corporate center
  • creating a growth strategy for a family-owned business group operating a diversified portfolio in automotive retailing, engineering and construction, retail, and education
  • establishing the family constitution, corporate governance model, and corporate-center protocols for a family-owned business
  • designing governance, mandates, management processes, and organizational structures for the office of a third-generation family-owned enterprise

Hans-Martin joined our Frankfurt office in 1991, transferred to Istanbul in 1998, and moved to the Middle East in 2003. He speaks German, English, French and Spanish.
